NYC

The real NYC stands at the center of material civilization. In contrast, a virtual NYC emits light from another dimension. When these two worlds intersect, the relationship between darkness and light is reversed. The physical city is in blackout, while the virtual city becomes the source of illumination.

Near the ground, residue produced by material civilization drifts through the scene like sediment, suspended between the two worlds. The darkened streets and buildings of NYC remain present, but their forms are revealed through light coming from the virtual city rather than from the physical world itself.

At the moment these realities overlap, the blackout city begins to emerge like a mirror image. What belongs to the material world and what belongs to the virtual world become difficult to separate. NYC appears simultaneously as a physical place buried in darkness and as another city illuminated by light arriving from beyond its dimension.
