市杵島姫命 Ichikishimahime-no-mikoto
Ichikishimahime-no-Mikoto is one of the three Munakata goddesses, governing maritime safety and the virtues of water. Born from the covenant between Amaterasu and Susanoo, she is a goddess of beauty and fertility who washes away all stagnation, much like a pure, flowing river.
Artist Commentary
In this work, I expressed the "spiritual essence of water" worn by Ichikishimahime-no-Mikoto and an overwhelming transparency that purifies all. While often depicted as a graceful woman, her essence is a "penetrating power of pure light" that repels impurity and returns all things to their original brilliance. I entrusted this quiet divine majesty to the light gradations resembling shimmering ripples.
The white light radiating from the center represents a "clear spring" that instantly clears the clouds from the soul. This light is a quiet energy of awakening, intended to gently envelop a consciousness exhausted by daily clamor and fill the interior with fresh vitality. The green and golden light spreading across the frame symbolizes the joy of life sprouting as the water's surface catches the sun. Through this piece, I hope a pure flow returns to your heart, allowing your hidden talents and beauty to bloom. Please feel the crystalline divinity welling up from the depths.
