Music Inspired Series

This series translates music into visual space, distilling sonic memory into light, texture, and rhythm. Rather than illustrate specific lyrics or scenes, each work transforms the emotive and tonal atmosphere of music into layered compositions. The goal is not depiction, but resonance—each piece is an attempt to capture the way music inhabits perception, evoking the unseen architecture of sound. Two distinct sub-series emerge: one rooted in the experimental legacy of The Beatles, the other in the lyrical sensitivity of Yumi Matsutoya. Though different in cultural tone, both explore how music and memory can be re-formed as visual presence.

The Beatles Series -Click Image for Details

The Beatles Series draws from the band’s most visionary and emotionally charged compositions, reinterpreted through a metaphysical visual language. These artworks are built from light rather than form, reflecting the band’s expansion beyond traditional song structure into abstract narrative and philosophical depth. Works such as Across the Universe, Tomorrow Never Knows II, and I Am the Walrus II evoke the psychedelic and cosmic, while Rain, Black Bird, and In My Life III channel interiority and personal nostalgia. The result is a visual translation of sound—music seen rather than heard—where atmosphere takes precedence over representation. This series celebrates The Beatles not through iconography, but through the lived aura of their music.

Yuming Series -Click Image for Details

Inspired by the timeless music of Yumi Matsutoya (Yuming), the Yuming Series explores scenes of emotional memory—twilight highways, seaside afternoons, urban solitude—through translucent, dreamlike visuals. These works are shaped by a uniquely Japanese sensibility: ephemerality, weather, introspection. Chuo Freeway, One Afternoon by the Sea, and In the Rainy Town dissolve physical setting into memory, while If Enveloped in Tenderness captures domestic intimacy through softened light. Unlike the more metaphysical Beatles Series, this collection embraces personal immediacy, where music becomes a filter through which time, space, and sentiment blend. The visuals offer not illustration, but the feeling of a song remembered through the fog of years.
