If Enveloped in Tenderness(やさしさに包まれたなら)
This piece is inspired by the song “Yasashisa ni Tsutsumareta nara,” used as an insert song in Hayao Miyazaki’s Kiki’s Delivery Service. Although originally released in the 1970s during Yumi Arai’s early era, the song has become beloved by younger generations through the film. Its lyrics describe opening the curtains to gentle sunlight and feeling that everything visible becomes a message. They also evoke the scent of gardenia in a garden after rain. The deeper theme is the rediscovery of a divine kindness once naturally felt in childhood but nearly forgotten in adulthood.
In the artwork, the present moment of being wrapped in kindness is visualized through a field of immersive light. A fresh forest emerges beyond the brightness, as if guiding the viewer inward. Abstract cosmos flowers frame the scene, while floating yellow forms suggest a lifted, light-hearted spirit. The result is a calm, warm, and uplifting image.
