Latency — 潜在
Latency begins with a material field that appears almost still. The surface is pale and low in contrast, yet it contains small changes in density, temperature, abrasion, and reflected light. Nothing clearly emerges, but the material is not empty or inactive.
I wanted the work to remain close to the point before change becomes visible. Light is present across the surface, but it does not separate from the matter or become a distinct source. It is absorbed into the texture, revealing small differences that would disappear if the image were simplified further.
The work therefore depends on what has not yet happened. Cracks, particles, and faint tonal shifts remain within the surface as signs of structure and time, while no single form takes control. Latency describes this condition: matter holding the possibility of change without declaring what that change will become or when it will finally begin to appear visibly.
