Source examines the point at which water becomes visible within mineral matter. The work begins with a fractured stone surface, where cracks, deposits, and variations in density suggest the slow passage of water through the ground. Near the center, the surface becomes pale and almost translucent, while a concentrated area of light appears at the lower right. Rather than depicting a spring directly, the image focuses on the conditions that precede its emergence.
The restrained palette of earth, stone, white, and faint green keeps attention on material structure. Light is not treated as a separate subject, but as something revealed through the surface itself. The surrounding fractures connect the brighter area to the larger field, suggesting that the visible source is part of a much wider underground system.
