磐長姫 Iwanagahime
Iwanaga-hime is the daughter of Oyamatsumi and elder sister to Konohanasakuya-hime. Representing the unchanging nature of rocks, she governs longevity and eternal life. Unlike her sister’s fleeting floral beauty, she symbolizes the fundamental strength that sustains the soul’s permanent radiance beyond visible, temporal changes.
Artist Commentary
In this work, I expressed the "foundation of eternal life" that transcends superficial beauty—the cosmic law itself. While often hidden in her sister's shadow, Iwanaga-hime is the resilient "vessel" allowing life to breathe. Reflecting the modern view of her as a ruler for a new spiritual era, I entrusted this gold to represent spiritual power welling from the earth and wisdom descending from heaven.
The dazzling light radiating from the center depicts an "inexhaustible fountain of life" within us. This light awakens the wisdom nurtured over eons and an immovable confidence deep in the soul, unaffected by passing emotions. The golden particles dominating the frame symbolize the purification of earthly energy connecting with higher consciousness. Through this piece, I hope you find your own "unwavering center" and walk healthily and abundantly with truths that remain constant amidst changing times.
