Izanami-no-Mikoto is the primordial mother deity who birthed the Japanese archipelago and myriad Japanese deities alongside Izanagi. Representing the Great Cycle, she governs both the emergence of life as a creator and the silent realm where souls return, embodying the infinite embrace of the cosmic womb.

Artist Commentary

In this work, I expressed the "maternal embrace of the universe," gently receiving the sharp creative light of Izanagi to nurture new life. While she is often associated with the realm of the dead, her essence lies in an ultimate motherhood that equally cherishes all life and tenderly enfolds even its conclusion. I entrusted this soft, deep vortex of white light to represent her quiet will in presiding over the grand cycle of birth and death.

The mist-like light radiating from the center depicts the peace found when a soul leaves the body to dissolve back into the source. This light is intended to soothe inner anxieties and bring a sense of true security by surrendering to the vast flow of destiny. Through these gentle gradations, I hope you feel the profound affection of the universal mother and find the strength to live your life fully, protected by her serene divine power.
